Claudette
Hi! I'm Claudette, and I have been a professional copyeditor and proofreader since 2012.
I specialize in working on genre fiction but have been known to enjoy copyediting or proofreading the occasional memoir. Luna, my rescued mutt, and my four girl buns share a beach apartment with me in sunny Puerto Rico.
I'm fluent in English and Spanish, have a BA in English literature, obtained an editing certificate from the University of Chicago, and keep up to date with the publishing industry's changes by taking professional development courses every year.

Claudette provided comprehensive feedback, covering aspects such as character development, timeline consistency, and technical details. She raised pertinent questions about character motivations and the plausibility of certain plot points, which can significantly improve the story's coherence and realism. Her comments on dialogue formatting, especially for a character with a unique speech presentation, were particularly helpful. The feedback on the emotional impact of scenes, such as the reaction to violence against animals and the build-up of suspense, highlighted areas that effectively engage the reader.
Claudette has an uncanny ability to identify passages that have been subconsciously gnawing at me and address them with her insightful comments. Each of her suggestions prompted me to think more deeply about my intentions and ultimately strengthened the story! I also appreciated the additional information she provided with the final product that went above and beyond what was promised.
Claudette's feedback was thorough and insightful, offering a detailed analysis of various aspects of the story. Her attention to detail and specific suggestions demonstrate a deep engagement with the manuscript, making her critique invaluable for refining the work
